About

Penny Kaplan was born in 1922 in New York City. She went to Hunter College in 1940.

Originally a sculptor during the ‘70s and ‘80s when the women’s
liberation movement was in full force, Kaplan was one of the many
women artists who were creating large environmental sculptures.
Kaplan’s work was frequently reviewed by the New York press.

Her works are permanently on display at the Everson Museum, Syracuse, Hofstra University, Hempstead and the Sands Point Museum, Port Washington to name a few.
